200,000 Meals Provided to Florida Communities

April 23, 2024

In celebration of Credit Union Day 2023, Elan donated $75,000 across five communities on behalf of our credit union partners as part of the Elan Charitable Giving program. Elan was honored to join one of the selected credit union partners, Envision Credit Union, in February for an in-person volunteer event at their selected charity, Second Harvest of the Big Bend.

“Second Harvest of the Big Bend has been a long-time partner of Envision Credit Union. To hear Elan wanted to come alongside us and make a bigger impact on that, we can't say no to something like that. It makes us feel proud of being an Elan partner,” shared Kelli Walter, VP of Community Development at Envision Credit Union.

Second Harvest of the Big Bend provides healthy food for neighbors facing hunger and food insecurity throughout 16 counties in northern Florida. Their facility acts as a storage and distribution depot for over 149 smaller frontline agency partners.

Monique Ellsworth, CEO of Second Harvest of the Big Bend shared, “We were excited to receive this $15,000 gift and we choose to send it out to our supporters as a match campaign. That campaign produced $50,000 and for us, because of our purchasing power, is equivalent to 200,000 meals for families because of what Elan and Envision Credit Union chose to do.”

We surprised Second Harvest of the Big Bend with an additional $5,000 gift at the event to further the impact of their incredible work in the community.

Throughout the afternoon, employees from Envision Credit Union and Elan Credit Card participated in several activities to support the Neighborhood Empowerment program. Together, 167 bags of protein, 366 bags of sweet potatoes, and 470 boxes of dry goods were packed for distribution in the community the following day.

Giving back to the community is a commitment of all our Elan partnerships. We look forward to continuing the Elan Charitable Giving program in communities across the country.
