Supporting our communities means meeting them in the good times and the bad. As part of our Elan Charitable Giving program, we have allocated a portion of our funding to reactive needs in our partners’ communities. These donations can aid with timely disaster relief, emergency response and local recovery efforts.
In August 2023, the Hawaiian island of Maui suffered extensive damage and destruction caused by wildfires. This affected many of our partners, their employees, families, and local communities.
In response, Elan Credit Card reached out to each of our five Hawaii-based partners, to provide a $25,000 donation to a local charity on their behalf.
All of these partners selected the same charity, the Hawaii Community Foundation – Maui Strong Fund (HCF), as the beneficiary of their donations, providing a total of $125,000 to support local disaster relief efforts. HCF is working in close collaboration with state and county leaders, nonprofit organizations, and community members to get an understanding of the quickly evolving priorities. All donations to the Maui Strong Fund will be distributed for community needs.
“We are deeply saddened by the devastation on Maui caused by the wildfires. In support of our Hawaii-based Elan partners, we are committed to helping them recover and rebuild their communities,” said John Owens, Elan Credit Card General Manager. “We are honored to be able to help support our partners’ communities in the times they need it most.”
